Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What type of debt
can I consolidate through your program?
A. We are able to
consolidate any unsecured debt. Unsecured debts are accounts with no
tangible property attached. Examples of unsecured debt include
credit cards, store cards, judgments, personal loans, medical bills,
reposessions, business debt, and charged-off accounts. We can not
consolidate secured debt, such as mortgages, secured loans, tax
liens, or car loans.
Q: What exactly is debt
consolidation?
A. Our debt consolidation plan is a solution
allowing you to consolidate your current debt obligations without
having to take out a loan or file for bankruptcy. We
contact your creditors to design a repayment plan that reduces your
current monthly payments and interest rates that accrue monthly. You end up with one
low monthly payment and a shorter payoff term.
Q. What
will your program do for me?
A.
We will negotiate with your creditors on your behalf to reduce
monthly payments by half or more, reduce or eliminate interest charges, stop late or
over limit charges, and stop creditors from harassment.
Q. How much can
your debt consolidation program save me?
A. In some cases, the
interest payments can be eliminated. The monthly payments on all of
your bills and debt can be reduced by an average of 60%. The savings
can amount to tens of thousands of dollars.
Q. Is this actually a loan?
A. No, we do not arrange consolidation loans. Under our debt consolidation plan, we negotiate with the creditor on your behalf to reduce the total amount of debt you owe. The purpose is to pay the debt in full at a reduced interest and/or monthly payment. More often than not, another loan will compound your debt problems.
Q. Will the debt
consolidation program affect my credit record?
A. The majority of creditors
will re-age accounts under our program. They are then considered
current, an advantage for individuals who are behind. While some
creditors will make a notation on your credit report such as "credit
counseling participant", most recognize this as a responsible way of
dealing with excessive debt.
Q. Can I choose which debts I want to enroll
in your program?
A. Yes, you
may choose to put all your unsecured debt in our program, or you may
prefer to leave off one or two (e.g. credit cards)
for personal or business use.
Q. Will your
program still help me if I am not currently behind on my
bills?
A. Yes, if you have at least
$5,000 in debt, then we can consolidate and lower your payments
regardless if you're behind or not.
